PRESENTATION
CINEMA FOR SPACE is organized by the non-profit association LES AMIS DU TEMPS PRESSE, located at 88 avenue Charles de Gaulle, 92200 Neuilly-sur-Seine. It is the first international film festival dedicated to space. It brings together researchers, artists, filmmakers, scientists, and the general public to explore the relationship between space and Earth through the lens of cinema.
The second edition of the festival will take place from November 19 to 22, 2026, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
Space for Earth is a competition within the Cinema For Space Festival. It is open to companies, agencies, or any other organization in the space sector, as well as French animation schools, filmmakers, producers, and special effects companies.
The Space for Earth Competition recognizes films that highlight the space sector and fall into the categories listed below for each of the following programs:
1. CORPORATE: corporate films, brand content, student projects, scientific videos
2. CINEMA: animated short films, special effects (excerpts from feature films)
The festival reserves the right to adjust (remove, modify, or add) programs, categories, and awards if the context of a submitted film does not correspond to the selected category.

THE 9 AWARDS IN THE ENTERPRISE PROGRAM:
The festival reserves the right to adjust the selected award if the context of the submitted film does not correspond to the chosen category.
INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY FILM AWARD : Award given to the film that clearly and creatively showcases technological advances, innovations, or expertise.

SPACE INDUSTRY CHANGEMAKERS FILM AWARD – Award given to the film that spotlights the people working every day to advance the space industry.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT FILM AWARD – Award given to the film that most powerfully addresses climate and environmental issues.

MISSION & EXPLORATION FILM AWARD – Award given to the film that best highlights the challenges of major space missions and the exploration of new frontiers.

Among the films presented to the public, five will be selected for each of these Awards :
SPACE FOR HUMANITY FILM AWARD – For the film that reveals how space opens new perspectives for humanity and inspires a broader, more sensitive, and more human vision of our shared future.

GRAND PRIX – SPACE FOR EARTH – Major award that honors the most impactful corporate film, combining vision, impact, and narrative excellence, and shedding light on how we understand, protect, and transform the Earth.

THE 4 AWARDS OF THE CINEMA PROGRAM:
EMERGING TALENT – ANIMATION SCHOOL AWARD – An award recognizing an animation school for the quality of its collaboration with the Festival and its commitment to the creation of animated short films.

VISUAL EFFECTS EXCELLENCE AWARD – An award recognizing a special effects company for the excellence of its visual effects in support of storytelling in film.

SPACE ANIMATION HERITAGE AWARD – An award recognizing the best animated short film that conveys a message or value related to space, produced between 2016 and 2025.

BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM AWARD
An award recognizing the best animated short film, created as part of a collaboration with French animation schools.
Jury: composed of the Festival Committee.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPETITION:
– All entries for audiovisual productions must be submitted via the online form by October 15, 2026.
– There is an entry fee for the competition: 150€ per film for early bird registration through July 31, and 350€ from August 1 through October 15, 2026.
– Multiple entries per person or organization are permitted throughout the duration of the competition.
– Registration is considered complete only after receipt of the duly completed form, the link to view or download the film, and payment of the registration fee. These items must be submitted by October 15, 2026.
– The Cinema For Space festival, as part of the “Space for Earth” competition, accepts works with no restrictions on production date, ranging from 20 seconds to a maximum of 5 minutes, including, in particular: films intended for television, documentaries (including web documentaries), institutional or corporate films, web content, promotional films, animated short films, special effects (excerpts from feature films), or any other audiovisual format.
– Entries must be presented in French or English.
For any entry in another language, a synopsis in French or English must be provided.
– Films must be submitted in .mov or .mp4 format at 1080p (Full HD if possible for better projection quality).
– Submitting a film to the festival constitutes a non-exclusive, royalty-free authorization to screen the film for the purposes of the event. This authorization includes posting all or part of the film on the festival website, its public screening as part of the official program, and the use of excerpts for informational and promotional purposes related to the festival.
– The producer or representative of the film declares and warrants that they hold all rights necessary for its participation in the festival, including the rights of reproduction and public performance.
– Participation in this festival implies unconditional acceptance of these rules. The festival reserves the right to exclude any person who does not fully comply with these rules.
– Submission of a film grants access to screenings in the program in which it is presented, subject to seat availability.
AWARDS CEREMONY
There are two types of juries:
– General Public Jury : composed of audience members present in the theater during screenings and
– Professional Jury : composed of the Festival’s selection committee and its professionals and institutions partners.
Films selected in each category may be awarded an Audience Choice Award. In addition, two prizes are awarded by the Cinema For Space Festival selection committee and its partners as part of the Corporate Program, based on their own criteria, as well as a special prize dedicated to the Cinema Program.
PAYMENT TERMS
Payment for participation and film registration fees must be made by bank transfer upon receipt of the invoice or by credit card online via a link provided by the Festival.
